Coursework

All the courses in my program of study have provided opportunities for application either through authentic project opportunities or practice with real life scenarios. Many of the courses provided opportunities for group work or peer review which was a valuable experience. Faculty constantly encourage selection of projects and manuscripts that would contribute to our research ideas and build our portfolios. The design and writing classes have been very helpful for me, in providing the necessary practice and feedback required to develop my writing and design skills. I selected several design and foundation courses to build my knowledge of ID: EDIT 6170, EDIT 6400, EDIT 7520, EDIT 6180, EDIT 6190, EDIT 7990.

Design & Research

I have continued to work on several manuscript revisions for Parental Involvement in Mathematics Study submitted in 2012. The purpose of this study was to measure the impact of parental involvement in student achievement in mathematics. I served as co – P I. I had the opportunity to implement the Math and Parent Partnership Program (MAPPs) over three years, collect and analyze data and report on it. This year I have had the opportunity to develop an online course for eMAPPs ( Math and Parent Partnership Program). This has involved an eight week face to face enactment of the program which was all captured on video. I have had the opportunity to edit all footage and create instructional videos for the online program. The online program was piloted by eighty participants at the University of Wisconsin in early Spring 2014. I am now working on revisions and further development of the online course. eMapps is a collaborative project between UGA, MAPPs Center – University of Arizona, University of Wisconsin and Griffin Spalding School System. I am currently refining the design and theoretical framework for my research idea on Self Regulated eLearning as Professional Development for Mathematics Educators.
